Hero for a Day
Today is the day to recognize our Heros for a Day! Any Veteran who signs up for this trail will be reimbursed the cost of the trail after providing their Military ID. This trail can be run as a 6 rated trail or up to a 9 rated trail depending on your rig, skills and pockets!
This trail was built by a couple local Veterans who wanted to give back to their fallen brothers and sisters, with obstacles dedicated to fallen soldiers from each of the American Conflicts. 10 plaques at 10 obstacles, The Fallen also has a memorial for anyone wishing to leave memories of their friends or family. The main trail is rated a HARD 8 with a couple 9 rated optional obstacles. There is a shadow trail rated 6 right next to the main trail, providing a bypass at any point.
Scenery
The scenery is spectacular from almost every part of this run. To the south, there are slickrock canyons with hoodoos and many rock formations. Sand Hollow Reservoir lies just to the north, with Zion Park in the background. The lower Hurricane Sand Dunes are just to the east, with Hurricane Cliffs in the background. In the winter time, the Pine Valley Mountains to the west are usually capped with snow.
Surface
Most of the trail is on the slickrock, with some parts crossing sandy canyon bottoms. The access and return routes are on a bumpy sand trail. The route from the top of the slickrock is via the Hurricane Sand Dunes, mostly downhill with a few dune climbs.
Trail Details
The Fallen has obstacles dedicated to fallen service members from the following conflicts: World War 1, World War 2, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf, Desert Storm, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, and a special obstacle dedicated to a specific service member from Utah that was also a wheeler. The obstacles are composed of several major waterfalls and slickrock climbs. Several notches require exact wheel placement to avoid becoming wedged in between a rock and a hard place.
